After the camping vacation on Isla Cebaco and the Montijo Bay area of Veraguas
Panama, you will now proceed to explore the cultural camping site that takes you 20
centuries back at San Blas Panama! Indian Bamboo hut communities, crystal clear
waters, a few hundred white sand beach islands at close proximity.
Note: Before heading north to the San Blas Islands, members will make a night stop
in a Panama City hotel. Clean beds, hot showers are waiting for the group!
Itinerary and Map (You need Google Eearth Plugin)
Day 8 or 1: The group arrives Panama City from Cebaco Isalnd, Coiba Island,
Cerro La Hoya and Montijo in General. It is time now to take a hot shower, rest
and tentatively do some shopping in the nearby malls.
Day 9 or 2: This morning your buffet breakfast will be ready as well as the private
transportation to the San Blas Islands!
An interesting ride will take you from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean in 1 day!
On the way to the San Blas Islands you will experience the Darien jungle where the
heart of the Embera Indian culture lies. After crossing the rain forest cordillera, a
motorized canoe will be waiting for the group at the Bazuko River. The smooth
ride will now take you to the estuary where the salty ocean meets the fresh
water of the Bazuko River. Once the boat is out on the ocean, we will change boats.
Note: San Blas is ruled by a different jurisdiction system, it has been kept since
their existence. It is one of the few cultural camping sites of the Americas that was
never colonized by the Spanish, or any other culture but themselves.
The first stop is the Carti Islands. A decent amount of home communities are
together along with their narrow trails and people. At this point we will switch boats
and head to Isla Aguja we will set up the camp!
Day 10 or 3: The group will be waken up with a complete breakfast;
Coffee, fruits, eggs, sausage, tortillas, cereal and juice. The Island is equipped
with bathrooms, solar panels, LED lights and a big ranch for meals overlooking the
Caribbean Sea.
Day 11 or 4: Once more the complete breakfast will be ready!
We will now head to a boat for a snorkeling trip to Isla Perro where a famous
sunken ship attracts schools of fishes and other interesting sealife. After the snorkeling
the feeding the group will be back to Isla Aguja for some resting.
Day 12 or 5: After breakfast and a 1.5 navigation trip to the northern islands
of the San Blas Panama Islands we will meet the Chichime Island. This day the
group is free to explore the Island. A trail goes around the white sand shoreline
of the Chichime Island passing along the 4 native family properties where you will
be able to chat or even buy handcrafts from the native Kuna Indians. There is also
a perfect spot to play volleyball or soccer. In case the group is enthusiastic about any
of both sports we will make teams (Cebacos vs Chichimes) and have a tournament
within the tour. Since Chichime is closer to the continental shelf, snorkeling is
more impressive!
Day 13 or 6: After filling the energy tanks with the breakfast, we will head up
to the Cayo Hollandez. This is a the biggest Islands of the San Blas region and
best preserved. Sea life really impressive as well as the ecological surroundings.
After the early morning trip, we will head back to the land transportation and
back to the Panama City Hotel for some rest before your day of departure.
Day 14 or 7: A buffet will be waiting! After breakfast the group will take
the private transportation to the International Airport and will leave with unforgettable
memories about the Panama culture, historical sites, islands, beaches and activities!
